Nike, the world-famous sportswear company, has announced several important leadership changes across its global regions as part of its efforts to grow faster and stay closer to athletes and customers around the world. These changes were shared by Elliott Hill, President and CEO of Nike, in an internal message to employees and leaders at the company.
One of the biggest changes involves Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region. Carl Grebert, a respected Nike leader who has worked with the company for nearly 30 years, has chosen to retire. Carl played a major role in guiding Nike through both growth and challenging times. In his place, César Garcia will become the new Vice President and General Manager of EMEA, starting from 2 February 2026. César brings almost 25 years of Nike experience, having worked in many parts of the world and helped combine merchandising, sports leadership, and data analysis to better serve athletes and grow innovation.
In Greater China, another important region for Nike, the current leader Angela Dong has decided to step down from her role and leave the company on 31 March 2026. Angela has been with Nike since 2005 and has guided the business through major events, such as the Beijing Olympics, the region’s growing digital market, and recovery from the global pandemic. Nike thanked her for her leadership and many contributions over more than two decades.
To lead Nike in Greater China, the company has appointed Cathy Sparks as the new Vice President and General Manager. Cathy is a 25-year Nike veteran with experience in different regions, including Asia and the Asia Pacific & Latin America (APLA) region. She has been recognized for helping transform markets and focus on customer-led growth. Cathy says she is excited to return to Asia with her family and lead Nike’s next chapter in this key market.
Because Cathy Sparks will be moving to Greater China, Nike has also made a new interim appointment in the APLA region. Cristin “Crissy” Campbell, who currently leads Nike’s brand strategy for APLA, will serve as Interim Vice President and General Manager of APLA while Nike searches for a long-term leader for that region. Crissy has spent over 15 years with Nike and has worked extensively in APLA, including in leadership roles for Jordan and women’s products.
Nike says these leadership changes are part of its ongoing efforts to focus on what it calls “Win Now actions” and “Sport Offense.” This means Nike wants its teams and leaders to work more closely with the markets they serve, get faster results, and keep bringing innovation to athletes and customers around the world.
Overall, these updates highlight how Nike is aligning its leadership team in important global regions to strengthen relationships with consumers, support growth, and continue its mission of connecting sport and culture worldwide.
