Share Post

Surat’s textile industry is rapidly moving towards adopting Artificial Intelligence (AI) to modernize operations and improve productivity, marking a significant shift in one of India’s largest textile hubs. An important initiative was recently conducted at Laxmipati Group, led by the Institute of Design and Technology (IDT), focusing on practical AI applications for fashion and textile manufacturing.

During the training, participants learned how AI can be used in real-world textile processes, solving complex operational challenges quickly. A notable demonstration involved AI resolving a real factory issue within hours, showing how technology can enhance accuracy, efficiency, and quality control in textile operations.

Industry leaders said the move reflects the sector’s readiness to adopt technology-driven solutions. Laxmipati Group Director Mr. Rajesh Sarawagi noted that AI adoption has boosted employee confidence and resulted in visible improvements in workflow accuracy and productivity. IDT Director Mr. Anupam Goyal emphasized that this is the right time for Surat’s textile industry to embrace AI, helping prepare it for future challenges and global competition.

This initiative highlights how technology integration is becoming essential in traditional manufacturing sectors. By embracing AI, Surat’s textile firms aim to stay competitive, innovate faster, and strengthen quality standards — potentially setting a benchmark for other textile clusters in India and abroad.
